Police Neutralize Armed Masked Individuals; Arrests Made

On the night of March 30, a report was received by the police about individuals attempting to rob an ATM at a store on Khanzhyan Street in Kapan city. The Kapan police, who arrived promptly at the scene, noticed a masked individual exiting the store and fleeing, while two others remained inside.

The head of the Kapan police department identified himself and demanded the individuals surrender. During this time, the masked individuals opened fire with a submachine gun. Fortunately, the bullet did not hit the police officer.

The department head began negotiations. Operational teams from the Syunik regional department and local divisions, led by the head of the department, arrived to assist. As negotiations continued, the masked individuals exited the store and were apprehended and arrested.

They are residents of Kapan city, aged 28 and 30. Hours later, police discovered and apprehended the fleeing individual, who was also arrested. This 29-year-old individual is also a Kapan resident.

A Kalashnikov assault rifle and a "J-1" grenade were seized. Investigations are underway to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
