Thousands of Casualties in Mariupol: Zelensky Also States That Russia is Preparing for a Large-Scale Offensive
Next week, Russian forces may engage in even more extensive operations in eastern Ukraine. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in his latest video address.
“They may use more missiles and bombs against us, but we are ready for these operations, will respond, and will be even more active in supplying weapons to Ukraine, in the international arena, as well as in the information space,” he said.
Today, April 11, during a video conference in the South Korean parliament, Zelensky also presented the situation in the country. In particular, he addressed the circumstances and developments occurring in Mariupol, noting that tens of thousands of people have died during the fighting in the city.
“The worst situation is in Mariupol, our southern port city, which has been blocked by Russian forces since March 1. It was a city of half a million. The invaders have surrounded it and are not allowing water and food to be delivered there. They have tried to seize it in the most brutal manner, simply destroying everything that exists in the city. Mariupol has been devastated, there are tens of thousands of dead,” said Zelensky, adding that Russia aims to showcase the destruction of Mariupol.
He expressed the belief that with the help of Western arms supplies, Ukraine will be able to liberate the “long-suffering Mariupol” and save other states from Russian aggression.
