Video: Pashinyan Tells Putin What the Main Issue Is

This visit has not only practical but also symbolic significance, as it is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries and demonstrates that our relations are at a very high level. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow today, April 19.

He also noted, “I hope that as a result of this visit, this dynamism will be more effective. We are in constant contact, we meet very often, and we have phone conversations. This is also due to the fact that the agenda of bilateral relations is very saturated, practically in all areas, from the economy to culture, education, and military-technical cooperation.”

“Russia is Armenia's strategic ally, and we effectively cooperate within the EEU, CIS, and CSTO. It is no secret that Russia has played a key role in ensuring stability and security in our region. I must emphasize your unique role in the cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh in 2020. After that, Russian peacekeepers have been operating in Nagorno-Karabakh. Overall, the activities of Russian peacekeepers ensure security. We need to look at how we can make their activities more effective.”

“And of course, the main issue is the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue in our region. I am confident that we will discuss this matter today. I am sure we will be able to conduct effective negotiations,” he added.
