Online Duty-Free Trade Threshold Change Will Be in Effect Until October 1: SRC
The State Revenue Committee announced that as of March 18, 2022, the threshold for online duty-free trade for personal use has been set at 1000 euros (and/or 31 kg), replacing the previous limit of 200 euros. This change was adopted during a meeting of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Council held on March 17, 2022, in Moscow.
The resolution stipulates that the new threshold will be in effect until October 1, 2022. The decision was published on the EEC Commission's website on March 21, 2022, and will enter into force ten days after its publication, starting from March 31, 2022.
According to the decision No. 107 dated December 20, 2017, by the Eurasian Economic Commission’s Council, national legislation of member states may impose stricter value, weight, and/or quantity norms than those prescribed by this decision. In accordance with paragraph 4 of article 249 of the 'Customs Regulation Law', the duty-free threshold is set at 200,000 drams and/or 30 kg. Therefore, starting from the effective date of resolution No. 107, on March 31, the threshold of 200,000 drams and/or 30 kg established by the 'Customs Regulation Law' will be applicable.
Additionally, it is currently being discussed whether the alignment of national legislation with the EAEU regulations is appropriate.
