Negotiations Between Russia and Ukraine to Be Determined by Nationwide Referendum, Says Zelensky

The compromises in the negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation will be determined by a nationwide referendum. This was announced today by Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to him, this will include Ukraine's security guarantees and issues regarding the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas and Crimea.

“I have explained to all negotiation groups that when you talk about all these changes, which can be historic, we will not go anywhere but to a referendum; the people must speak and give their answer regarding certain formats of compromises. But what those will be is already a matter of our conversation and the understanding between Ukraine and Russia. Thus, in any case, I am ready for anything if this path is with our people,” he said.
