Possible Location for the Statue of Jesus Christ at Sevan Peninsula

From the very beginning, the location for the installation of the statue of Jesus Christ has been discussed, with selected places under consideration and study. This was stated by Ruben Hovhannisyan, the coordinator of the competitive commission for the monumental statue complex, during a press conference followed by a briefing on the question of where the statue will be installed.

"Choosing a location is certainly not just about having a beautiful view, although, yes, providing an attractive panorama is very important, which will be ensured by the entire committee. Later, we will also involve seismologists in the commission; the choice of location needs to be studied in detail," Hovhannisyan noted, as reported by Tert.am.

He mentioned that the site for the statue has not yet been selected. "There are 4 points within the territory of the Republic of Armenia; to mention beforehand, none are in Yerevan, we are considering only the regions. One of the sites under consideration is the Sevan Peninsula, because the monastery complex of the peninsula, founded in 305, was established by Gregory the Illuminator himself, which means there is significance to this place," he said.

Hovhannisyan pointed out that all the places being considered are historical sites with a huge energetic field, and every detail is taken into account in the selection of the location. It is noteworthy that 230 sculptors applied to create the statue of Jesus Christ, from which 21 were selected.
