Number of Citizens Arriving in Armenia from Ukraine Revealed
Since the onset of military operations in Ukraine, tens of thousands of people have arrived in Armenia from Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus as refugees, migrants, or tourists. According to the Ukrainian Embassy in Armenia, nearly 4,000 citizens of Ukraine, primarily of Armenian descent, have crossed the border into Armenia in the last three weeks. This information was shared with journalists at a press conference by Denis Avtonomov, the Chargé d'Affaires of Ukraine in Armenia.
"The peculiar feature is that almost all of them are of Armenian descent, have friends, relatives, and homes here, which is why they are not seeking assistance," noted the Chargé d'Affaires.
According to Avtonomov, the Ukrainian embassy has some options for 'settling' people and addressing their housing issues, but resolving employment concerns is more challenging. It is notable that many Armenian citizens—both residents of Yerevan and those from the regions—have expressed willingness to help Ukrainian refugees with resettlement, as stated by the Ukrainian diplomatic representative.
Earlier, Denis Avtonomov had informed journalists that approximately 3.5 million refugees have fled Ukraine since the start of military operations.
