Strengthening Anti-Russian Sanctions Brings Additional Difficulties, Says Chinese Foreign Minister
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, during a phone conversation with his Dutch counterpart Wopke Hoekstra, stated that the strengthening of anti-Russian sanctions is fraught with additional difficulties regarding the recovery of the global economy, TASS reports.
Wang noted that the US and Europe are constantly intensifying anti-Russian sanctions, drawing attention to the fact that this is akin to "putting salt on the wound" for all countries' populations.
At the same time, he expressed hope for an early ceasefire and a de-escalation of the situation in Ukraine. In his opinion, "all parties could make more efforts to facilitate peaceful negotiations."
"If negotiations continue, there is hope for a ceasefire and a peaceful future," the diplomat stated, adding that China will continue to make efforts to promote the talks.
