Are Azerbaijanis Advancing Towards the Village of Nerkhin Hand in Kapan?
“Azerbaijani soldiers have made advancements around the village of Nerkhin Hand in the Kapan enlarged community. This was reported to Tert.am by Khachatur Baghdasaryan, the administrative head of the Nerkhin Hand community.
“They arrived about 10 days ago, setting up tents approximately 1 km from the village cemetery, and they have been there for several days now. Currently, there are 5 tents stationed there,” said Baghdasaryan.
“The village's water source is located in that area, and they can observe both the village cemetery and the water source from their position. Although the villagers can approach those areas, it is dangerous. There haven’t been any gunfire or provocations, but they are still close to the village,” he added.
He noted that they have informed Russian peacekeepers about the situation, but so far there have been no changes, and he is unaware of any agreements made.
In response to the question of how far the Azerbaijanis are currently from the village of Nerkhin Hand, Khachatur Baghdasaryan stated they are about 1.5 km away.
The updated Defense Ministry categorically denied the circulating reports about the advances of Azerbaijani Armed Forces units in a conversation with Auroranews. The agency added that in the mentioned area, which is under Azerbaijani control, Azerbaijani units have several positions that cannot be used during the winter season due to lack of equipment.
“Now, due to changing weather conditions, Azerbaijani soldiers are merely returning to those positions. There can be no talk of any advancement. As in the borders and all other areas, the RA Armed Forces are fully executing their assigned tasks, including constant monitoring of any movements of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and controlling the situation,” stated the Defense Ministry.
The Defense Ministry once again urged to rely solely on official information when disseminating details about the border situation.
