15 Years Imprisonment Threatens Channel One Editor
During a broadcast of Channel One's "Vremya" program, a staff member staged a protest. The individual stood behind news anchor Yekaterina Andreyeva and displayed an anti-war banner. This was reported by tehnowar.ru.
The protest was organized by Marina Ovsyannikova, who worked as an editor. She was taken to the Ostankino police station. It is presumed that a report was filed against the Channel One employee under Article 20.3.3 of the Administrative Offences Code concerning military censorship for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.
During the broadcast, Ovsyannikova was shown for a few seconds before the image was changed. The news program did not stop.
Ovsyannikova's appearance essentially became a staffing failure for Channel One. On the other hand, no one is immune from such occurrences. Why? Because you never know what actions a particular employee might take.
Marina Ovsyannikova is one of those employees. She works in the international department of Channel One alongside her husband.
Immediately following the incident, a service inquiry was conducted. It has now been revealed what penalties threaten Marina Ovsyannikova and what fines Channel One may incur for the disruption of the broadcast.
Currently, Ovsyannikova faces administrative responsibility, with fines up to 5 million rubles, but she is also at risk of criminal liability under Article 207.3 of the Russian Criminal Code. Considering that Ovsyannikova worked at the television channel and thus abused her official position, she is threatened with imprisonment for 5 to 10 years under clause "a" of part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Russian Criminal Code.
