What Did Pashinyan and Trudeau Discuss

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, had a phone conversation with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau. This information was provided by the Armenian government.

Prime Minister Pashinyan expressed gratitude to the Canadian side for its readiness to support the development of democratic institutions in Armenia and the reforms being implemented in that direction. He emphasized the significance of the recent visit to Armenia by Canada’s Special Envoy to the European Union and Europe, Stéphane Dion, and expressed hope that the meetings and discussions that took place would contribute to strengthening cooperation between the governments of the two countries in various fields.

Nikol Pashinyan highlighted that the Armenian government will steadfastly pursue the agenda of developing democratic institutions in the future.

Justin Trudeau conveyed the Canadian government's readiness to further contribute to the strengthening of democracy in Armenia and the deepening of bilateral ties in various sectors.

The Prime Ministers of Armenia and Canada discussed the rise in tensions around Nagorno-Karabakh and underlined the importance of a comprehensive resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group to ensure stability and peace in the region.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the ongoing processes in the South Caucasus, including the possibilities of delimitation and demarcation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the dialogue between Armenia and Turkey.

Reference was also made to the situation created in Ukraine.
