WHO Advises Ukraine to Destroy Dangerous Pathogens in Laboratories
The World Health Organization (WHO) has strongly advised Ukraine to destroy all pathogens in its laboratories. This information was conveyed in an email from WHO addressed to Reuters.
"WHO urged the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and other responsible bodies to eliminate highly dangerous pathogens to prevent potential leaks," the message states.
It also called upon anyone who may come into contact with biological laboratories and pathogens to cooperate with the organization and seek assistance if necessary. WHO has promised to provide help if possible.
WHO has reported that it has been collaborating with representatives of Ukraine's medical sector for years to support the implementation of safety protocols.
The organization did not disclose when the advice was sent to the Ukrainian side, nor did it provide specific information on the types of pathogens or toxins held in Ukrainian laboratories. It also remains unclear whether WHO's recommendations have been implemented.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has labeled American biological laboratories as a direct threat to Russia. The head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin, has instructed to launch a criminal case over the development of biological weapons in Ukraine.
