There Is No Shortage of Essential Goods in Armenia and Artsakh: What Is Causing the Panic?

The Ministry of Finance and Economics of Artsakh has conducted a study with several departments, revealing that there is no shortage of essential goods in either the Republic of Armenia or the Republic of Artsakh. This was reported by the Artsakh Information Center.

During the recent days marked by panic, a shortage of sugar was noted among essential goods, mainly due to the population making more purchases than usual. The necessary stocks are currently being replenished.

The Deputy Minister assured that there are no issues related to the import of essential food products, as there are sufficient supplies, and significant price increases are not expected in the near future.

A. Gasparyan urged the population not to succumb to panic, as the situation is being managed by the relevant authorities. He informed that a decision has been made in coordination with the Artsakh Ministry of Finance and Economics and other concerned state bodies to implement measures against any economic operators who have taken advantage of the situation to commit abuses and artificially raise prices.

According to the Deputy Minister, price increases can be anticipated for imported goods and products produced from imported raw materials, related to fluctuations in the dollar and ruble exchange rates. However, significant price hikes for goods consumed in the local market are not expected.

Addressing the issue of gas supply disruptions, A. Gasparyan stated that he does not respond to political questions. He noted that although Russia has banned the export of certain goods, this ban does not apply to fulfilling the internal demand of EAEU member states, and furthermore, there are sufficient quantities of goods in Armenia's warehouses.
