Mysterious Incident in Ararat: 37-Year-Old Woman and 48-Year-Old Husband Hospitalized with Burns

On March 10, a report was received by the police department in the Marash district of Yerevan, indicating that at around 07:30, a 37-year-old woman named Anush M. had passed away in the intensive care unit of the National Center for Burns.

According to shamshyan.com, she was transferred to that center on March 5. On that day, police received a call from the central police department regarding a woman who had been transported from an apartment on 9th street in Aygestan, diagnosed with "full body thermal burn due to flames, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burns covering 85 percent of her body." Shortly thereafter, a man was also transported with" bilateral wrist thermal burns due to flames, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burns covering 5 percent of his body."

The operational group dispatched to the hospital from the central police department identified the victims as Yerevan residents, 37-year-old Anush M. and 48-year-old Vahe H.

Authorities from both the central police department and the Marash police station established that on March 5, while attempting to clean clothing stains in a half-constructed building in one of the villages of the Ararat region, one of them had used gasoline, which ignited from a cigarette butt, resulting in the injuries described above.

According to information from the site, the man’s father is a former pro-rector of one of Armenia's well-known universities.
