Armenia to Address Co-Chairs of OSCE Minsk Group for Peace Talks with Azerbaijan
Armenia may soon approach the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs regarding the initiation of peace talks with Azerbaijan. This was stated by Vahan Hunanyan, spokesperson for the Armenian Foreign Ministry, in response to a question from Armenpress.
“Armenia has repeatedly expressed its readiness to sign a peace agreement with Azerbaijan, and similar statements have also been made by Azerbaijan. Are concrete steps being taken in this direction?”
“The signing of a treaty must, of course, be preceded by a negotiation process on that topic. However, since mutual declarations have not yet translated into an actual negotiation process—due to the lack of a rich history of direct negotiations between the two countries—Armenia may soon seek the mediation of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group regarding peace talks with Azerbaijan. The matter is currently in the development phase,” Hunanyan added.
