Write a Will Before Traveling to Ukraine: What the U.S. Advises Its Citizens
The U.S. State Department advised Americans planning to travel to Ukraine, despite the travel ban, to take several precautions, including writing a will and discussing potential guardianship issues for children with loved ones.
“Do not go to Ukraine due to armed conflict and COVID-19. U.S. citizens currently in Ukraine should depart immediately using commercial or other privately available ground transportation,” the statement from the U.S. foreign agency read.
It also mentioned that those intending to travel to Ukraine, despite the warnings, should take a series of steps, including drafting a will, discussing plans for child custody, pet care, property, and asset management with loved ones, and transferring vital documents and personal information to relatives.
Additionally, Americans traveling to Ukraine are advised to develop their own security plan or consult with an appropriate organization.
