Cases of Theft and Attempted Robbery of Payment Terminals Have Been Discovered

On March 6, a citizen who called the police reported that at 1:22 PM, an attempt was made to steal a payment terminal near a grocery store on 7th Street in Sari Tagh. However, the store employees noticed the incident, prompting the suspects to abandon the terminal and flee in a Toyota vehicle. The citizen also provided the license plate numbers of the Toyota. This information was reported by the Police of the Republic of Armenia.

“An operational group from the Erebuni division of the police immediately went to the scene. It was found that at 1:20 PM, unidentified individuals had attempted to openly steal a payment terminal located near one of the grocery stores on 7th Street in Sari Tagh, but they were unable to complete the crime; the store employees had pulled the terminal from the vehicle’s cabin, after which the suspects fled the scene. It was also revealed that the license plates of the Toyota had been stolen the day before in the administrative area of Malatia, a report had already been made to the Malatia police,” the report stated.

Thanks to operational and investigative measures taken by the Erebuni Division, the identities of the individuals who attempted to rob the terminal were established. The suspects, one from the village of Kasakh and two from Yerevan, were located and apprehended on March 7 in the village of Nor Kharberd in the Ararat region and brought to the Erebuni Division, where the 28-year-old from Kasakh provided a confession.

On the same day, during a search of one of the houses on 2nd Street in Nor Kharberd, 3.9 grams of a greenish substance, 7 grams of a crystalline substance, the stolen license plates, and the payment terminal were discovered. Due to the measures taken, it was determined that the payment terminal had been stolen on February 28 from Arshakuniats Avenue by the 28-year-old, who was detained by the Erebuni Division on March 7 (a report about the theft of the payment terminal from Arshakuniats Avenue had been received at the Shengavit Division on February 28).
