Issues Arise with Russian Aircraft, Flight from Yerevan Cancelled
The Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia has announced that on March 3, 2022, documentation issues concerning the airworthiness of an А320 type aircraft operated by Siberia Airlines arose just hours before its scheduled arrival at Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport, while the aircraft was still in Russian airspace.
As a result of the airline's decision, the aircraft landed at the airport in Mineralnye Vody, Russia, and only after that did it arrive at Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport. Due to the aforementioned circumstances, the planned flight from Yerevan could not take place.
The issues stemmed from interactions between the airline, the aviation authorities of the country where the aircraft is registered, and the aircraft’s lessor. It is important to note that the aircraft was not detained but rather its flight permission was temporarily suspended.
Additionally, the scheduled flight from Yerevan was carried out by another aircraft of the airline. The Civil Aviation Committee is currently in correspondence with the aviation authorities of the aircraft's registration country regarding the arising issues. The operating airline and the aviation authorities of the Russian Federation have also been informed about the matter. Once the documentation issues are resolved, the aircraft's operation will be restored.
