3-ton Fragment to Crash into the Moon: Who's Responsible, SpaceX or China?
In a few hours, a fragment that detached from a rocket is set to collide with the Moon, as scientists predicted months ago in January, reports the BBC.
The three-ton fragment, traveling through space at a speed of 9334 km/h, is expected to impact the Moon today at 12:25 PM London time.
Astronomers initially believed that the fragment was released by Elon Musk's SpaceX program; however, it was later revealed to be Chinese. Despite this, China denies the claim.
It is worth noting that according to scientists, the collision will not have a significant impact on Earth’s natural satellite. They estimate that the impact will create a crater approximately 10 to 20 meters wide.
