A Taboo is Imposed on the Turkey Issue: ‘Jhoghovurd’
According to the newspaper ‘Hraparak’, from February 23-25, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Ruben Rubinyan will be in Vienna. Within the framework of the Armenia-Turkey normalization process, the second meeting of the special representatives of the two countries, Ruben Rubinyan and Serdar Kilic, is scheduled for February 24 in Vienna. There is zero information in the ‘Civil Contract’ regarding the upcoming meeting and agenda items.
According to our sources in the faction, these issues are not discussed either before or after the meetings, as a taboo is imposed on this topic. Ruben Rubinyan is frequently seen at the official residence of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, receiving instructions from him.
It should be noted that Yerevan and Ankara announced in December 2021 that they were ready to take concrete steps towards normalizing relations and both appointed special representatives. The first meeting of the Armenian-Turkish envoys took place on January 14 in Moscow. However, there are certain concerns within the ruling Civil Contract party due to the recent events surrounding Russia and Ukraine. They do not rule out that Turkey may pursue a more aggressive policy from now on.
