Armenia's Foreign Ministry on Azerbaijan's Criminal Charges Against Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan
Recently, it became known that Azerbaijani authorities have initiated criminal proceedings and declared international wanted notices for Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan, as well as former Armenian Presidents Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan.
We strongly condemn these fabricated and anti-Armenian motivated criminal prosecutions by Azerbaijan, as well as the misuse of international law enforcement procedures.
Instead of making efforts to uncover those involved in extrajudicial killings of civilians in Artsakh and the forced disappearances of Armenian prisoners of war, Azerbaijan is escalating its long-standing anti-Armenian policies with renewed vigor, making new attempts to provoke further tensions in Nagorno-Karabakh and along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.
We call on Azerbaijan to seek solutions in a constructive manner and to take steps towards the protection of the rights and well-being of all peoples in the region.
At the same time, we reaffirm the Republic of Armenia's commitment to efforts aimed at establishing peaceful coexistence and mutual tolerance in the region.
