Increase in Emergency Calls in Gyumri Due to Earthquake Yesterday
In connection with the aftermath of the earthquake that occurred last night, a meeting was held today under the leadership of Shirak Governor Nazeli Baghdasaryan to discuss the consequences, further actions, and coordination of efforts. Representatives of the regional government and heads of responsible agencies participated in the discussion.
The leaders of the North Regional Center of the Seismic Protection Territorial Service and the Shirak Regional Emergency Situations Service provided information on aftershocks and registered alerts, confirming that there were no reports of collapses or damages.
The earthquake was felt strongly in Gyumri and in the Ashotsk region. According to the report from the director of the Gyumri Emergency Medical Station, the number of calls increased after the tremors, primarily due to people's stress and fear. Between 22:25 and midnight, 28 calls were recorded.
The Shirak governor urged the officials to remain vigilant and to exchange information more efficiently.
