«I’m Sorry, You Caught Me Too Soon, I Still Had Plans to Hit a Few More People»: The Words of a Man Who Committed a Notorious Murder in Yerevan

On February 1, as per the decision made by Dait Kirakosyan, head of the investigative department of the Yerevan city investigative committee for the Center and Norq Marash administrative districts, an investigative team was established, and senior investigator Hayk Jamkochyan has submitted a request to the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction to impose a two-month detention as a preventive measure against 30-year-old A. Harutyunyan, a resident of Yerevan.

According to shamshyan.com, after conducting a closed court session and returning from the consultation room, Judge Razmik Marikyans satisfied the investigator's request, and A. Harutyunyan was transferred from the court to the penitentiary institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia.

Reports indicate that when police officers discovered and arrested him, he stated, “I’m sorry, you caught me too soon, because I still had plans to hit a few more people.”

Earlier, we reported that a murder occurred in Yerevan on January 30. Around 01:20, a call was received by the central police department from the number 1 university hospital, informing them that a citizen with multiple knife wounds had been taken to the hospital. Police established that the individual transported to the hospital was 35-year-old Urmi Sh., a resident of Kotayk region and a Georgian national.

Authorities also learned from the hospital that he had been taken from near the flower salon located at the intersection of Mashtots Avenue and Amiryan Street. As a result of the operational work of the patrol officers, a broken knife with blood-like traces and shaped like a wolf's head was found approximately 30 meters from the crime scene, and blood-like traces were found in front of the flower salon.
