Macron Holds Phone Conversation with Scholz
French President Emmanuel Macron had a phone conversation today with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. This was reported by the Elysee Palace.
The conversation took place ahead of Scholz’s upcoming trip to Moscow and Kyiv.
"The conversation was held within the framework of close coordination between France and Germany, ahead of Scholz’s visit to Ukraine and Russia at the beginning of next week," stated the French President's office.
The exchange of ideas confirmed the "complete alignment of positions" between Paris and Berlin.
"This particularly pertains to the upcoming phases of discussions within the 'Normandy format' (Russia, France, Germany, Ukraine), as well as the necessity of outlining parameters for Collective Security in Europe."
It is noteworthy that Macron visited Moscow on February 7, followed by trips to Kyiv and Berlin. In recent weeks, the French president has also had several phone conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the ongoing crisis surrounding Ukraine.
