Official Clarifies Reports of Artsakh President Araik Harutyunyan's Imminent Resignation
Today, reports emerged in the media indicating that an active phase of political restructuring has begun in Artsakh. The current president Araik Harutyunyan expressed his willingness to resign days ago, and the political landscape is reportedly preparing for the electoral processes scheduled for next year. The name of former defense minister Lyova Mnatsakanyan has even been circulated as an opposition candidate.
In an interview with Auroranews, the press secretary of the Artsakh president, Lusine Avanesyan, clarified these circulating reports.
“Regardless of what the media writes, President Harutyunyan has stated several times post-war that he would take that step when it becomes possible to hold public elections in Artsakh. Today, a constitutional reform has been announced in Artsakh, which should address several issues. Until the completion of that process, I will refrain from commenting on all other discussions,” Avanesyan said.
