How Foreign Intelligence Services Managed to Penetrate the Armenian Armed Forces So Deeply: Abrahamyan
Recently, the National Security Service (NSS) announced revelations regarding individuals involved in a foreign espionage network occupying various positions within the Armenian Armed Forces. This announcement caused significant resonance in the information space, particularly in the post-war phase, as noted by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the National Assembly’s 'Honorable' faction, on his Facebook page.
“Without violating the presumption of innocence, I refrain from making evaluations, but there is a major question that remains unanswered. How did foreign intelligence services manage to penetrate the Armenian Armed Forces so deeply? The primary task of our relevant services is to prevent the activities of foreign intelligence agencies and significantly reduce their ability to operate among soldiers,” he stated.
“In simple terms, we still need to understand how a favorable field has been created for the enemy in this regard and why the army and soldiers have become so vulnerable. Of course, many of the answers to these questions exist; however, any investigation or criminal case of this nature must also be examined under the logic I mentioned.”
“The issue should not only be the elimination of consequences but also a deep study of the causes and prevention, and this is where the main problem lies. And now, the objective is precisely to create such a background,” the deputy wrote.
