US Army Additional Forces Arrive in Poland
The additional forces of the US Army will be stationed in the southeastern part of Poland, not far from the border with Ukraine, announced the country's Minister of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak.
Recently, the Pentagon began deploying additional forces to Eastern Europe. Specifically, an additional 1,700 American military personnel will arrive in Poland. They have already started arriving at the Jasienka Airport near Rzeszów.
"The prompt arrival of US troops in Poland is the best response to threats on NATO's eastern flank and indicates a serious commitment to allied obligations. The soldiers will be operating in our country's southeastern region," Błaszczak wrote on Twitter, as reported by RIA Novosti.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby stated during a press briefing last Wednesday that the US would soon send additional forces to Romania, Poland, and Germany. He emphasized that the troops are heading to the region "not permanently," adding, "this is a response to the current situation; they (the deployed soldiers) will not be fighting in Ukraine." According to him, the dispatching of troops is essential to provide "support to allies" in the region.
