Earthquake Registered Near the Coast of Sakhalin

On Sunday morning, a subterranean tremor of magnitude 5.5 occurred near the shores of Sakhalin Island, as reported by the Kamchatka branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences' geophysical service, according to RIA Novosti.

The tremors were felt by residents of several localities. The earthquake was recorded at 8:18 AM local time (0:18 AM Moscow time), near the eastern shores. The epicenter was located at a depth of 23 kilometers.

According to preliminary data, there are no reports of casualties or destruction.
