Large Fire in Yerevan: Car Reduced to Ashes
On February 4, a large fire broke out in Yerevan. Around 15:25, a call was received at the Emergency Situations Ministry’s 911 crisis management center reporting that a car was on fire at 134/4 David Bek Street.
According to photographer Gagik Shamshyan, firefighters from Yerevan’s Fire and Rescue Service number 9 and a team from number 3 arrived quickly at the scene. Before the firefighters' arrival, employees at the auto repair shop attempted to fight the spreading flames.
Firefighting crews were able to extinguish the fire, but the Opel car located inside the repair shop was completely reduced to a pile of ashes along with all its interior contents. A parked Range Rover was also partially damaged. Two citizens were hospitalized from the site of the fire before the arrival of the fire-rescue units.
The cause of the fire will be determined after the expert examination results from the Ministry of Emergency Situations are obtained. The police service is investigating the identities of the injured.
