Barrier Destroyed and Driver Lands in Private Garden: Accident in Vayots Dzor Region

On February 2nd, a major car accident occurred in the Vayots Dzor region. Around 16:10, a 40-year-old citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Aidin Safaralizadeh, was driving a Scania-brand trailer truck on the 127.5 km stretch of the Yerevan-Meghri highway. While heading towards Yerevan, the vehicle veered off the road, crashed into nearly 100 meters of iron barriers, toppled them, and ended up in a private garden, causing considerable damage to numerous fruit trees, including walnut trees.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, who reported from the scene, a massive cistern loaded with several tons of liquid gas, mounted on the trailer, was ripped off the vehicle due to the impact. Following the accident, the driver received initial medical assistance on-site from doctors of the Yeghgneadzor Medical Center before being transported to the 'Yeghgneadzor' hospital.
