VIDEO: Street Musicians Forbidden to Sing in Kurdish in Istanbul

In Istanbul's Istiklal Street, police officers have prohibited street musicians from singing in Kurdish. This was reported by Ferhat Oncu, the head of the Istanbul provincial office of the pro-Kurdish People's Democratic Party, who also shared a confirming video of the incident.

Oncu informed that he received a call from one of the singers, who stated that they faced police violence and insults for singing in Kurdish. According to Oncu, the individual who called him and other musicians were taken to a police station.

Oncu emphasized that this act of intolerance stems from the state's hostile attitude towards the Kurdish language. As evidence, he noted that songs sung in various other languages by street musicians in that area are not prohibited.
