French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Russia later than scheduled. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing a French television station. The correspondent indicated that he left for Moscow with a slight delay of about 30-45 minutes.
In the Russian capital, Macron will hold talks with President Vladimir Putin. According to the French leader, the purpose of his visit is to prevent the situation surrounding Ukraine from deteriorating further. The Kremlin expects that the two leaders will primarily discuss security guarantees.
At the same time, the Russian side does not anticipate any decisive breakthroughs, as the situation is quite complex. A joint press conference is planned at the end of the meeting between Putin and Macron.
It is known that the French leader will travel to Kyiv on Tuesday.
