If the West Ignores Russia's Demands, Response Measures Will Be Implemented - Lavrov
Russia's Foreign Minister has addressed the State Duma regarding security issues. Moscow will not allow the proposals on security guarantees to be "drowned out" in discussions, and will take response measures if the West ignores Russia's demands. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov today, January 26, in the State Duma. The information is reported by RIA Novosti.
"If there is no constructive response and the West continues its aggressive policies, then Moscow, as President Putin has repeatedly stated, will take necessary response measures," Lavrov noted.
It should be reminded that at the end of 2021, Russia published draft agreements with the US and NATO on security guarantees. Moscow is demanding from its Western partners, in particular, legal guarantees against NATO's further eastward expansion, Ukraine's non-admission to the alliance, and the non-establishment of military bases in post-Soviet countries. The proposals also include points on not deploying NATO strike weapons near Russia's borders and the withdrawal of alliance forces from Eastern Europe.
