Driver Hits 24-Year-Old Pedestrian in Yerevan
On January 22, a hit-and-run incident occurred in Yerevan. Around 20:45, a driver of an unidentified vehicle struck 24-year-old Narek Gelazarian, a resident of Yerevan, in front of building number 83 on Lvovyan Street.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, after the incident, the driver collided with a parked Lexus vehicle in the permitted area of the road where Gelazarian was located and fled the scene, leaving the victim helpless.
The Yerevan emergency medical team was promptly dispatched and provided initial medical assistance at the scene before transferring the injured person to university hospital number 1.
Patrol officers from the 2nd platoon of the 4th battalion of the patrol service of the police in Yerevan, led by battalion commander Armen Gasparyan and platoon commander Staffi Dilyan, arrived at the scene.
Officers Edgar Chobanyan and Ararat Grigoryan cordoned off the area to prevent curious drivers from stopping their vehicles and to avoid traffic congestion.
The patrol service reported the accident to the traffic accident investigation department of the police in Yerevan, from which a response team led by department head Grigor Avetisyan and senior investigator Khachik Ginosyan was dispatched.
Materials are being prepared by Kh. Ginosyan regarding the incident.
According to G. Shamshyan’s reports, hours later, 49-year-old Arthur Baghdasaryan, a resident of Yerevan, arrived at the police station in Nor Nork and claimed that he was the one who caused the hit-and-run incident while driving his Hyundai Elantra.
Those present at the scene said that the affected pedestrian had lost his foot.
