Fatal Car Accident in Kotayk Region Leaves 1 Dead

Today, on January 18, a tragic car accident occurred in the Kotayk region. Around 3:10 PM, two vehicles collided on the 43 km stretch of the Yerevan-Sevan highway, near the "Verin Akhta" restaurant. The vehicles involved were a Lada Priora driven by 39-year-old Oksen Grigoryan and a VAZ 2106 driven by Gevorg Vardanian.

According to photo journalist Gagik Shamshyan at the scene, two people were transported to the "Hrazdan" medical center with injuries from the crash. One of the injured, 48-year-old Mikael Hambardzumyan, succumbed to his injuries along the way.

Citizens helped extract the injured from the vehicle, and firefighters from the Emergency Situations Ministry's Hrazdan Rescue Service, specifically the 44th fire-rescue squad, arrived promptly to assist.

Following the investigator's instructions, the vehicles were moved to a designated secure area of the Hrazdan police department. The police and investigative department are working to ascertain the full details of the drivers, the deceased, and the injured.
