Russia Does Not Exclude Deployment of Nuclear Weapons in Belarus
If the USA and NATO refuse to discuss Russia's proposals regarding security guarantees, then all possible response actions will be considered; much depends on the reaction of Western countries. This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov in a conversation with reporters, commenting on the possibility of deploying nuclear weapons in Belarus, reported Factor.am, referring to RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced that Minsk would offer Russia to deploy nuclear weapons on its territory if NATO undertakes such a step in Poland. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also stated that Lukashenko's remarks should be understood as a warning to the West.
“All issues are discussed in a complex manner. We have heard such proposals from our Belarusian allies. All options will be considered; however, as I already said, this will depend on the reaction we expect from the USA and NATO,” Ryabkov said.
