I Am Just Amazed by All This: Robert Kocharyan
During today's court session regarding Robert Kocharyan and Armen Gevorgyan, the appeal for Armen Gevorgyan's temporary absence from Armenia was discussed. Prosecutor Petros Petrosyan objected to the presented request. According to him, the justifications of the request distort the Constitutional Court's decision.
"The decision of the Constitutional Court speaks of the immunity of a deputy. What does that have to do with Armen Gevorgyan? He is not using parliamentary immunity, as constitutional provisions relate to the immunity concerning criminal prosecution. The Constitutional Court has stated that there is no question to address in this regard. It is incorrect to take the Constitutional Court's positions out of context and present them as a means to make the activities of a National Assembly deputy unlimited at any cost," said the prosecutor.
"I am stunned by the absurdity of the Constitutional Court's decisions; absurd things are being said... It is the duty of this country to ensure Armen Gevorgyan's participation in the PACE meeting. I am just amazed by all this," Kocharyan responded to the prosecutor's remarks.
The court, after hearing the positions of both sides, postponed the court session until January 18, 2022, at 1:00 PM.
