20-Year-Old Brother Suspected of Stabbing 24-Year-Old Sister

A resident born in 1997 from the Aragatsotn region reported that her brother attacked her with a kitchen knife, inflicting multiple wounds. The Armenian Investigative Committee provides further details.

“An investigation is underway at the Aragatsotn regional investigative department of the Armenian Investigative Committee to clarify all circumstances surrounding the attempted murder of the sister by the brother on December 20, 2021. The alert was received from a resident born in 1997, who stated that her brother had inflicted multiple wounds on her at their home with a kitchen knife.

According to preliminary data, the 20-year-old youth inflicted multiple knife wounds on various parts of his sister’s body with the intent to unlawfully deprive her of life, causing numerous cut and stab wounds. However, due to circumstances beyond his control, the crime was not completed, thanks to the urgent medical assistance provided to the victim.

A criminal case has been initiated at the Aragatsotn regional investigative department of the Armenian Investigative Committee under part 1 of Article 34-104 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. During the preliminary investigation, several investigative actions were carried out, including an examination of the crime scene, during which the clothing worn by the victim at the time of the incident was collected, and the knife used as the instrument of the crime was seized, and expert examinations were appointed.

As a result of joint actions carried out with the staff of the Police of Armenia, the young man was located and brought in for questioning. He has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to murder his sister. The preliminary investigation is ongoing,” the statement said.
