Turkologist: This process marks the onset of another attempt to weaken Armenian statehood and Turkify it
Turkologist Varujan Geghamyan made a post on his Facebook page titled "Armenia-Turkey Relations: New Concession."
"Turkey's Foreign Minister M. Cavusoglu officially announced yesterday that Armenia and Turkey are starting a process of normalizing relations, which will be conducted through specially appointed envoys. Just like before, Turkey is presenting several preconditions for establishing diplomatic relations with Armenia. From renouncing the fight for the international recognition of the Genocide to acknowledging Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and granting a 'Turkic corridor' through Syunik. It can be confidently stated that Turkey has not abandoned these preconditions. Therefore, it is Armenia's capitulatory regime that has agreed to them. If this process is progressing (as we can see), then we have conceded once again.
It should be noted that once again, all of this is occurring in secret and without any discussion with the specialized circles of Armenian society. Moreover, if you look at the activities of Turkey and Azerbaijan in international platforms, you will see that the ground is being prepared for new preconditions. This process marks the beginning of another attempt to weaken Armenian statehood and Turkify it.
Currently, the Pashinyan administration has an important task to accomplish: it is necessary to present the idea of Armenian-Turkish brotherhood to the population of the Republic of Armenia with a beautiful packaging. This is why, in recent months, and especially in recent weeks, various public figures, fake scholars, and experts have been actively operating in Armenia, preaching on a daily basis the need to abandon Artsakh and the Genocide and to engage in 'trade' with Turkey, forgetting Armenian national interests. Furthermore, in doing so, they are causing great harm to our potential regional allies who are also facing Turkish expansionism.
In the near future, the scale of this blatant propaganda will increase even more. At the same time, Turkey and Azerbaijan, alongside eastern sweet words, will continue to weaken our state because their ultimate goal is not to have relations with Armenia, but to bring about the final eradication of an independent political entity of Armenian character in this region. The remaining scenarios of 'peaceful coexistence' are an illusion or a consciously Turkic propaganda.
Note: This April, Turkish President Erdogan sent such a 'positive' signal to Armenia: 'However, on the other hand, there is this truth. Not long ago, a century ago, over 80 percent of the population in the territory where the Republic of Armenia is located today consisted of Muslims. This is very important.'"
