Pedestrian Accident in Ararat Province: 49-Year-Old Driver Hits 7-Year-Old Child

Today, December 14, a pedestrian accident-traffic collision occurred in Ararat Province. Around 3:10 PM, a VAZ 2121 vehicle veered off the roadway in the administrative area of the village of Dvin while traveling from the village of Norashen to Dvin, hitting 7-year-old Narek Kh., a local resident who was standing on the sidewalk. The vehicle then collided with an iron support pillar of a gas pipeline, broke it, continued forward, and ended up in the yard of a greenhouse belonging to 84-year-old Gohar Hovsepyan from the village of Nerkin Dvin, causing material damage and overturning.

According to reports from the scene by shamshyan.com, the child received urgent medical assistance from doctors of the “Artashat” medical center who arrived at the scene, and was subsequently transported to the “Saint Astvatsamayr” medical center in Yerevan.

The driver fled the scene. While the investigator was conducting an examination of the area, 49-year-old Armen Chobanyan, a resident of the village of Norashen, voluntarily appeared at the Ararat police department and reported that he was the driver. He underwent a sobriety test, which revealed that he was inebriated.

Following the investigator's instructions, the vehicle was towed away and transported to the special storage area of the Artashat police department.
