VIDEO: Pashinyan Initiated Joint Fight Against Coronavirus Between Russia and Armenia, Says Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated today at the meeting of the Eurasian Economic Union's Supreme Council that the fight against coronavirus encourages the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union to cooperate more closely in the fields of pharmaceuticals and healthcare in general.
In this context, he recalled Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's idea of localizing the production of Russian vaccines in the member states of the union. "I remember how the Prime Minister of Armenia initiated the expansion of our joint work in this direction (vaccine production - ed.) and even proposed a whole program. In fact, we are now implementing just that," said the Russian president.
He emphasized that today the production of Russian vaccines is successfully being carried out in most of the EAEU countries. "Our EAEU partners have managed to accelerate the pace of vaccination of the population with their own high-efficiency drugs. As a result, collective immunity is increasing across the Eurasian space. This is an important condition for restoring the free movement of citizens within the union," said the Russian leader.
According to him, a joint project related to innovation and the IT sector also helps solve the issue of movement of the population during the pandemic. This refers to the mobile application "Travel Without COVID-19." Besides the EAEU countries, it is also used in other states. The Russian side suggests expanding the functionality and geography of this application.
