Suspect Who Killed 23-Year-Old Found in Nubarashen Psychiatric Hospital

On December 9, the head of the Nairi investigative department of the Kotayk regional investigative directorate, Haykaram Hakobyan, submitted a motion to the Yeghvard Court of General Jurisdiction in Kotayk, requesting the court to reaffirm the two-month detention order.

According to shamshyan.com, on December 6, operational information was received by the Tavush regional police indicating that 24-year-old Mark Khoderyan, who had been wanted since February 12 under Article 104, Part 2, Clause 10 of the Armenian Criminal Code, was possibly located at the Nubarashen Psychiatric Hospital.

Officers from the Tavush regional police, the criminal investigation department of the Yerevan police, and the criminal investigation departments of the Erebuni and Shengavit police conducted an operation dubbed “Palace No. 7” and located the wanted individual at the psychiatric hospital.

Yesterday, Judge Varosyan conducted a closed-door hearing and returned from the deliberation room, satisfying the investigator’s motion and reaffirming the previous detention decision against M. Khoderyan. He is suspected of deliberately killing 23-year-old Tatul Martirosyan, a resident of Hrazdan city, at the “Ariunj” restaurant complex in the village of Arinj, and has been transferred from the court to the Armenian Ministry of Justice's penitentiary service at the “Armavir” correctional institution.

The pre-investigation of the criminal case is ongoing. Earlier, we reported that according to website information, a criminal case was initiated under Article 104, Part 1 of the Armenian Criminal Code, where 24-year-old Mark Khoderyan, a citizen of the Russian Federation, was sought as a suspect.

The suspect had returned to Armenia from Russia a few days ago and was wanted for participating in a brawl at the “Ariunj” restaurant complex on February 6, where he is suspected of killing 23-year-old Tatul Martirosyan. Sufficient evidence against him has already been collected by the main investigation department of the Armenian police, the Kotayk regional police, and the investigative division of the Kotayk regional directorate and the Abovyan investigative division of the same directorate. SHAMSHYAN.com had presented a video showing how the fight occurred, during which T. Martirosyan had already fallen to the ground in a wounded state.
