The 'Armenia' Alliance Issues a Statement

Since August, parliamentary delegations of the National Assembly have been formed, which also include members of the 'Armenia' faction. To date, opposition members have essentially not participated in these activities. The reason lies in the apparent illegal detention of our fellow members of parliament and the illegal restrictions on the movement of other members, including those included in the delegations, as stated in the message released by the alliance.

The constitutional activities of the parliamentarians have been effectively obstructed. Each of the mentioned procedural actions has an exclusively political component, devoid of any legal basis, and remains in place to this day. This situation is unprecedented for a member country of the Council of Europe and indicates that Armenia is no longer a democratic and rule-of-law state.

Under such circumstances, the 'Armenia' alliance declares that members of parliament with effectively different statuses cannot exist and suspends its participation in all international organizations. They will not participate in meetings organized outside of Armenia until all restrictions and prohibitions imposed on the parliament members of the 'Armenia' faction are lifted. Relevant international organizations will also be informed of this decision.
