In What Circumstances Did Conscription Soldier Gor Martirosyan Die in Artsakh on November 5?
Recently, the Ministry of Defense of Artsakh announced that conscription soldier Gor Martirosyan died under unclear circumstances, stating that an investigation is underway to clarify the details of the incident.
In a conversation with Civic.am, Vardan Tadevosyan, the spokesperson for the Investigative Committee, provided information that the incident occurred near the former hotel known as "Noyan Tapan" in Shushi, and conscription soldier Gor Martirosyan was killed by enemy gunfire. "Two friends had moved a bit away from the position, to an unsecured area below Shushi, near the former 'Noyan Tapan' hotel. They noticed movement from the enemy. Gor Martirosyan's friend suggested they return to their positions, but Gor refused. The friend returned to their positions, while Gor Martirosyan remained," he said.
Tadevosyan added that it is still unclear which side fired first, but Gor died from a penetrating head wound, while there were no casualties on the enemy side. "Either the Azerbaijani servicemen fired from quite close range, or he died from a sniper shot. The Azerbaijani servicemen entered that permanently neutral area unexpectedly, as their positions are quite far from there and they do not descend from that position," he noted.
According to the spokesperson of the Investigative Committee, a criminal case has been initiated regarding the circumstances of the incident under Article 104, Parts 2, Points 7 and 13 of the Criminal Code, which indicates characteristics of murder motivated by national, racial, or religious hatred or fanaticism by a group of individuals or an organized group.
It is worth mentioning that according to the official statement, the incident occurred on December 5 at around 21:20 in one of the protection areas of the Defense Army units.
