Why Did the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan Not Meet? The Failure of the Stockholm Meeting

The failed meeting between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Stockholm indicates that issues have arisen, as there were agreements following the trilateral meeting on November 26 for certain actions to take place, political technologist Armen Badalyan said in an interview with Aysor.am.

"However, reports emerged in the media indicating that Azerbaijan has backed away from the agreements reached on November 26 and is once again demanding the 'Zangezur Corridor.' Naturally, if Azerbaijan is retracting from the agreements, it should manifest in some way. One manifestation was the failure of the Stockholm meeting. This is one of the expressions that Azerbaijan insists on its precondition that is, 'If there is a Zangezur Corridor, I will meet; if not, I will not meet,'" Badalyan stated.

In his opinion, the adversary has found the weak side of the Armenian authorities. "By moving forward kilometer by kilometer, Azerbaijan is taking the corridor without even having meetings. Azerbaijan has a clear goal to achieve the establishment of the 'Zangezur Corridor,' and although there’s nothing written black on white about the corridor, they are pushing a policy of pressure," the political technologist added, noting that one form of pressure was the abduction and killing of a peaceful resident of Jartarp.
