Ankara Officially Acknowledges Turkish Intelligence's Role in 44-Day War
Ankara has officially recognized the involvement of Turkish intelligence during the 44-day war in Nagorno-Karabakh. This announcement was made by Turkey's Vice President Fuat Oktay, who presented the annual activities of state bodies affiliated with the president, stating that the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) has provided a "great service" to Turkey through its activities abroad.
Vice President Fuat Oktay mentioned that the intelligence organization played an active role in the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, helping to "shape the balance of forces," as reported by Nordic Monitor.
“In many regions, such as Syria, Libya, Nagorno-Karabakh, and Afghanistan, the organization has carried out important work that protects our national interests and establishes a balance on the ground in favor of our country, in line with our state policy,” he stated.
Although it was known from the very beginning of the war that Turkey provided military support to Azerbaijan, there had never been an official statement regarding the direct involvement of Turkish intelligence during the conflict.
