A New Decision Has Been Made Regarding Armen Gevorgyan
A new decision has been made regarding Armen Gevorgyan, a member of the National Assembly from the "Armenia" faction. His attorney, Erik Aleksanyan, announced the details of this decision on his Facebook page.
"I have received a letter from Vardan Vardanyan, the head of the Criminal Police of the Republic of Armenia, dated November 12, 2021, number 3/2-11874. It states that based on a request from the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, which was formed in connection with the case of Armen Gevorgyan, as of October 2019, the existing practice has been reviewed, and data from the State Electronic Criminal Tracking (SEKТ) system will henceforth be removed also in cases where the investigating authorities submit a written request to allow the above-mentioned individuals to temporarily cross the Republic of Armenia's border without making a decision to lift the precautionary measure against the suspect or accused party.
Previously, the Police of Armenia had not lifted the relevant restrictions from the SEKТ system, referencing the Armenian government's decision 884-N, according to which the Police remove (suspend) the respective monitoring placed by the investigative bodies on the accused or suspect when provided with a decision to lift the precautionary measure against these individuals or a letter from the same body mentioning such a decision.
I express my gratitude to Armen Tatoyan, the Human Rights Defender of Armenia. Congratulations to my esteemed colleagues."
