89-Year-Old Grandmother Beaten and Burned by 36-Year-Old Granddaughter in Charentsavan

On December 3 at 5:30 AM, the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a report from a citizen who alerted police in Charentsavan that smoke was coming from an apartment on the fourth floor of building 10 in the second district of Charentsavan, and the sound of a child crying was heard. This information was reported by the police.

Authorities dispatched to the scene identified the residents of the smoking apartment. After extinguishing the fire, the lifeless body of 89-year-old Rosa Gyulumyan was found on the living room floor, in a burned and smoke-damaged condition.

Through joint operational-investigative and procedural actions conducted by officers from the Kotayk Regional Police, the Charentsavan division, and the Charentsavan investigation department, it was determined that Rosa Gyulumyan was unlawfully killed by her 36-year-old granddaughter by beating and burning. She has been presented to the Charentsavan investigation department and has given a confession regarding the incident.

A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the incident. The 36-year-old woman has been arrested. An investigation is underway.
