49-Year-Old Driver in Gegharkunik Region Collides with Train Working on Railway

On December 3, an extraordinary incident occurred in the Gegharkunik region. Around 15:50, a 49-year-old resident of Gegharkunik, Asya M., driving her Nissan March, collided under unknown circumstances with a train operated by the South Caucasus Railway, which was conducting track renovation works (Dresden) on the 43 km stretch of the Martuni-Vardenis-Sotk highway.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, Asya M. was taken to the Vardenis medical center with bodily injuries as a result of the accident. Officers from the 1st platoon of the 4th company of the 2nd police battalion arrived at the scene, led by platoon commander Edgar Suslyan and squad commander Vachagan Voskanyan. Senior investigator Harutyun Margaryan from the same battalion coordinated the investigative work at the site, where materials are being prepared regarding the incident.
