Video: What works are being carried out at the metro station Republic Square? Comments from the city hall
Former head of the Center administrative district of Yerevan, Viktor Mnatsakanyan, wrote: "Two architectural masterpieces from different periods, now cultural treasures, both under the guise of urban improvement in Yerevan... I kindly ask the Yerevan History Museum, under the city hall’s jurisdiction, to remember that its main task is not just displaying decorations, but preserving, cataloging, and conserving historical stones and original windows and doors with utmost respect."
The video shows that construction works are being carried out at the Yerevan metro's Republic Square station area. The post also refers to the building located at 46 Republic Avenue.
Auroranews contacted the spokesperson of the Yerevan mayor, Hakob Karapetyan. He noted that yes, the city hall is renovating the territory of the Republic Square metro station, but there will be no changes to the area. The demolished tuff steps will be replaced with stones of the same appearance, volume, and complete likeness.
Regarding the building at 46 Republic Avenue, Karapetyan mentioned that the implementation of the 33rd district program is taking place there, which has been officially announced, and that the façade appearances of all buildings of cultural-historical significance will be preserved identically.
